dinner no. 3

last night’s dinner was a reminder of why I moved to L.A. it’s been many years since I made that first trip down the coast… and sometimes you just lose sight of the original reason you decided to do something. i think that’s okay, it’s a part of life, and it makes it all the more beautiful when we are reminded. so last night as i sat under twinkling string lights, chatting with fellow creative women, and eating the most delicious food, i remembered that this is exactly what i wanted and hoped for in a new city.

create dinners

Create Dinners (@createdinners) was founded by my friend kate edwards who is one of the most delightful people i know. kate says, “my greatest hope for Create Dinners is that people leave to go home for the night and feel blessed, more important than they did when they arrived, and are encouraged and excited to keep creating.”

everyone who attended brought something to the table. literally. Alli graciously let us take over her backyard. Kylie provided the incredible meal (links to recipes below!). Elise provided our craft. Jenn did the GORGEOUS florals. Heather told us a story after dinner. Emily sang us some beautiful songs. Christina designed the menus. and the list goes on!!

Jenn Sanchez is a flower wizard and my new favorite IG account.

Elise brought these gorgeous elements of her holiday craft idea – finished product in the top left corner! Mine is hung up on the spiral staircase in my apartment and adds such a cozy feeling to our little place!

Emily has the voice of an angel and sang us some christmas songs after dinner. Heather told us the most hilarious story about a secret santa mishap.

Kate made this gorgeous table (yes, you read that right) for dinner no. 2. I’m kind of obsessed with it and if I had more space than the tiny deck off our apartment you KNOW it would be making my own! someday, someday…

the fearless leader herself doing what she does best, making magic with her camera.

Christina’s menus were one of my favorite parts of the evening. She also hand-watercolored our place cards! How amazing is that?!

our amazing chef kylie. she made us a FEAST. i’ll update here as she adds more recipes to her blog, but for now check out the below:

Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes

Apple Cider Donuts

Kimberly made a delicious cocktail. The incomparable Wassail Rosemary Buck. If you like mulled wine but also love moscow mules this drink is for you.

If you’re intrigued at all by create dinners, go to createdinners.com to sign up for the next one! i’d love to see what you’d bring to the table.
